Dumbo (2019)

I just watched Dumbo open yesterday.  My favorite parts were Eva Green the flying woman, who acted in other movies directed by Tim Burton more recently, Dark Shadows (2012) and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016,) and how good the character of Dumbo was, reminiscing of the Dumbo in the original Disney animation and seeming so awesome flying.

I went in thinking Tim Burton only produced it, but he directed with.  That said, the art was very good of him, too, whatever he must have done under his direction.

I felt like most people, disappointed to see the mother elephant shamed/scorned and humiliated.  Dumbo seemed a bit immature, not like a real elephant.

I used to watch the show played by adults dressed up as puppets called "Dumbo''s Circus" when I was a small child or toddler.  My mom got me interested in it.  I also watched "Welcome to Pooh Corner," alternating with this show, and it also had these giant puppets like this.

Dannny DeVito was very good and held the movie together very well!  He is very smart and good at acting.  I remember seeing him at the beginning of "Taxi," which I borrowed from Netflix years ago.  He was cool then, too.

They picked 2 wonderful children to star.  It was an interesting script, too.  I think compared to other kids they fit in well.  They were very cute.  It was nice to see them getting to meet Eva Green, too.

Eva Green is so skinny and attractive.  I thought her dad was Swedish and her mom was French and she is from France.  It turns out her dad is Swedish and some kind of French/English and her mom is French/Jewish.  She is a very nice actor, maybe can be seen as a little shy.  She helped make the movie very enjoyable and gave it more stability.  I guess I can relate to her in that my dad is mixed Northern European mostly and my mom is mixed with different cultures, too.  I just feel shorter and fatter.  I know she was dating Tim Burton when Peregrine came out, which I am happy she must like him.

The movie itself seemed very cool but a bit sentimental and somewhat uptight.  I appreciate all the art that went into this, as I am with any movie directed/created/written by Tim Burton.
